Navigating Your NDIS Journey with Orchid Community Care

What is the NDIS and am I eligible?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to Australians with a permanent and significant disability. To be eligible, you must be under 65 years old, live in Australia, and be an Australian citizen or hold a permanent/protected visa.

What does “Reasonable and Necessary” mean?

This is the criteria the NDIS uses to decide what to fund. A support is “reasonable and necessary” if it is related to your disability, helps you achieve your goals, represents value for money, and is effective for your specific needs.

Can I change my provider to Orchid Community Care?

Absolutely. You have the “Choice and Control” to change providers at any time. If you feel Orchid is a better fit for your goals, we can help you with a smooth transition from your current provider.

Using Your Funding

What can I spend my NDIS funding on?

Funding is typically spent on supports that help with daily living, community access, health and wellbeing, and capacity building. As of 2025/26 guidelines, the NDIS has clearer lists of “Inclusions” (like personal care and therapy) and “Exclusions” (like general groceries, rent, or entertainment).

What is the difference between Core, Capacity Building, and Capital supports?

Core: Everyday help like cleaning, transport, and personal care.

Core: Everyday help like cleaning, transport, and personal care.

Capacity Building: Investing in your future, such as therapy, life skills training, or support coordination.

Capital: Higher-cost investments like wheelchairs or home modifications.

How does Orchid Community Care charge for services?

We strictly follow the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. We do not charge “gap fees” or hidden costs. Everything is transparently laid out in your Service Agreement before we begin.

How do you match support workers to participants?

We don’t just send the first available person. We look at your interests, cultural background, and personality to match you with a support worker who you will actually enjoy spending time with.

Do I need a Support Coordinator to work with Orchid?

No, it is not mandatory. While a Support Coordinator can help you manage your plan, you can also contact us directly if you are self-managed or plan-managed.
