Navigating Your NDIS Journey with Orchid Community Care
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to Australians with a permanent and significant disability. To be eligible, you must be under 65 years old, live in Australia, and be an Australian citizen or hold a permanent/protected visa.
This is the criteria the NDIS uses to decide what to fund. A support is “reasonable and necessary” if it is related to your disability, helps you achieve your goals, represents value for money, and is effective for your specific needs.
Absolutely. You have the “Choice and Control” to change providers at any time. If you feel Orchid is a better fit for your goals, we can help you with a smooth transition from your current provider.
Using Your Funding
Funding is typically spent on supports that help with daily living, community access, health and wellbeing, and capacity building. As of 2025/26 guidelines, the NDIS has clearer lists of “Inclusions” (like personal care and therapy) and “Exclusions” (like general groceries, rent, or entertainment).
Core: Everyday help like cleaning, transport, and personal care.

Capacity Building: Investing in your future, such as therapy, life skills training, or support coordination.
Capital: Higher-cost investments like wheelchairs or home modifications.

No, it is not mandatory. While a Support Coordinator can help you manage your plan, you can also contact us directly if you are self-managed or plan-managed.
